January Newsletter

Dear Friends,

It's been an exciting start to 2023 at 826 MSP! Publishing student writing is our specialty, and we are elated to share that 24 of our young writers have been published beyond the walls of our center!

7 students were published in The Phoenix of Phillips, a neighborhood literary magazine. (6 of them received prizes!) An additional 17 students will be published in a forthcoming 826 National youth anthology with U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón. These achievements come at the same time that we are celebrating the release of our fall 2022 chapbook, The Tree That We All Grow On

After being snowed out in December, we celebrated its release last week with hot chocolate, shaah, and festive treats. There is nothing more magical than the moment a student gathers the courage to walk up to the microphone to read their poem or story—followed by cheers, applause, and beaming smiles from friends, family, and volunteers. We know that the creative community we've built helps boost our young writers' confidence—leading them to share their voices in new and exciting ways.

Congratulations, young writers!

In community,
