August Newsletter

Dear friends,

The school year is fast approaching, and we have so many things to celebrate! Our summer was a great one, with two new published books, including the newest Young Author's Book Project publication Rehumanize Me, and the new After-School Writing Lab and Young Authors' Council publication, We See Each Other. We also produced a new zine from the work of our Outdoors Outspoken students, which focuses on environmental justice and climate change. To read more about Outdoors Outspoken, check out this streets.mn feature in which our Program and Volunteer Manager, Ellen Fee, highlights the work of our talented summer writers.
Friday, August 26, was 826 Day! 826 MSP joined the 826 National cohort in 2009. Since then, we have worked with 10,000 students in our local communities here in the Twin Cities. In the 21-22 school year, we serviced 1,500 students, and successfully returned to in-person programming. On Friday, we celebrated our organization's favorite holiday with board members, students, and family members. Participants were able to try some writing and art activities, while students were eager to read their published work! Ice cream and fun was had by all! Check out some photos below.
Thank you so much to everyone who celebrated this day with us. We are looking forward to the many accomplishments to come from the 22-23 school year!
